1. (a) POSTNATAL SERVICES: Each woman and her family have different needs that may change from day to day. A shift provides a check-in on how the last 24 hours has gone, formulation of a plan for the shift, and can include anything that feels supportive inside the home. Examples:
• Breastfeeding support (referral to a lactation consultant if needed)
• Troubleshooting with feeding and sleeping cycles
• Spending time with your baby so you can rest
• Basic household tasks
• Assistance with after-birth healing (sitz bath, emotional support, etc.)
• Organisation of supplies
• Helping with baby care guiding you as you learn
• Grocery shopping, errands
• Simple meal preparation
We will help with self-care recovery, postnatal comforts, infant care (bathing, feeding, safety issues, and swaddling), parenting information, and provide assistance with learning to feed and take care of your baby. We do not take over all care of the baby. Our goal is to help you become confident and secure in your own abilities as a new mom and family. Due to the nature of inductions, you may be at the hospital several hours/days without you needing your doula’s constant presence. Be sure to stay in communication with us so we can provide tips for comfort and progress. Together, we will decide when it is best to join your labour.

ENTIRE AGREEMENT: This Agreement shall replace and supercede all previous arrangements, understandings, representations and agreements, either oral or written, regarding the subject matter herein and expresses the entire agreement between you and us with reference to the terms and conditions for our services in connection with your labor.
You are the Client. By paying for this service, you shall confirm this Agreement with May.tree.arch.
After the birth of a baby, the postnatal period is a very special time, deserving of a sensitive approach. A postnatal doula focuses on the new mother’s needs as well as the newborn’s. She nurtures the mother by offering practical assistance as well as emotional support, enabling a faster recovery and increased confidence in meeting the challenges of parenthood.
1. (a) POSTNATAL SERVICES: Each woman and her family have different needs that may change from day to day. A shift provides a check-in on how the last 24 hours has gone, formulation of a plan for the shift, and can include anything that feels supportive inside the home. Examples:
• Breastfeeding support (referral to a lactation consultant if needed)
• Troubleshooting with feeding and sleeping cycles
• Spending time with your baby so you can rest
• Basic household tasks
• Assistance with after-birth healing (sitz bath, emotional support, etc.)
• Organisation of supplies
• Helping with baby care guiding you as you learn
• Grocery shopping, errands
• Simple meal preparation
We will help with self-care recovery, postnatal comforts, infant care (bathing, feeding, safety issues, and swaddling), parenting information, and provide assistance with learning to feed and take care of your baby. We do not take over all care of the baby. Our goal is to help you become confident and secure in your own abilities as a new mom and family. We do not diagnose any medical conditions for mother or baby, but will refer you to an appropriate health care provider if we notice anything of concern.
If you request that we run errands for you on our way to your home, the hour begins upon arrival at the first stop. You are responsible for immediate reimbursement of any purchases made on your behalf.
Availability: All services are subject to availability.
Expiration Policy: Postnatal doula packages expire six weeks after a birth or adoption. Any unused hours are the responsibility of you the contracted party and even if some hours remain unused at 6 weeks, in this event no refund will be due.
1. (b) BIRTH DOULA SERVICES: As birth doula, we do not perform clinical tasks, such as blood pressure, fetal assessments, vaginal exams, etc. We are present to provide for your physical comfort, emotional support and advocacy. We will not make decisions for you. We will help you get the information necessary to make an informed choice.
If you feel there might be signs of labour starting be request that you keep us updated. We can answer questions and make suggestions over the phone. Together, we will decide whether we should come to your home right then or wait for further notice of change. Please allow one hour to get to you from the time you request our presence. Except for extraordinary circumstances or short breaks, we will remain with you throughout your labor and birth.
Due to the nature of inductions, you may be at the hospital several hours/days without you needing your doula’s constant presence. Be sure to stay in communication with us so we can provide tips for comfort and progress. Together, we will decide when it is best to join your labour.
After your birth, we will remain with you until you are comfortable and your family is ready for private time together. We can assist you with your initial breastfeeding latch, if necessary. We are available for phone and email contact to answer any questions you may have.
2. COMPENSATION: As compensation in full for the Services described herein, you shall pay the following based on the package you have purchased.
In the unlikely event that your doula cannot attend your birth, we will provide a back-up/secondary doula. You will not be responsible for any financial arrangement with this back-up doula. We will provide you with the name(s) and telephone number(s) of your back-up doula(s) at our prenatal meeting, which will take place around your 35th week of pregnancy.
During active labor, if you do not contact us to join you, or decide not to have us present at a surgical birth, you will not be refunded any amount.
3. RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PARTIES: When paying for doula services provided by May.tree.arch, you hereby acknowledge that service may be provided to you in your home, traveling to a medical facility, hospital, and/or birth center. You understand that we have a limited role pursuant to the description of task outlined in the above referenced contract wherever services are provided to you. We have not represented to that contracting our services guarantee in any way, a risk free or emergency free labor, birth, or postpartum experience. You understand that your doula does not make medical or nursing decisions on your behalf, to include the decisions when to seek medical care at a hospital or birth center when labor or postnatal support services are provided in your home. When service is performed in your home or a medical facility, you acknowledge that we are not responsible for the performance of clinical tasks to include medical or nursing decisions regarding the inclusion or exclusion of treatments available to you and your baby. You hereby acknowledge that we are independent contractors. Nothing in this agreement makes us partners, joint venturers, employer-employee or the like.
4. RELEASE: Now, therefore in consideration of the above acknowledgements, you hereby RELEASE AND FOREVER DISCHARGE us from all damages or causes of action, either at law or in equity, which you may have or acquire or which may be accrued to you, your heirs, administrators, personal representatives, executors, or assigns as a result of using the doula services provided by May.tree.arch. You intend this to be a COMPLETE RELEASE AND DISCHARGE of us from all liability whatsoever. You have read all statements contained herein and you fully realise that you are agreeing a COMPLETE RELEASE AND BAR to any claims resulting from this Agreement for doula service.
5. GOVERNING LAW: This Agreement shall be construed in accordance with the laws of Scotland applicable to agreements, which are executed and fully performed within the United Kingdom.
